San Francisco. I was once there in the mid-2000's on a business trip - stranded, of course, by a plane that had mechanical issues. That 'helpful' airline refused my hotel request, and I was forced to spend the night sleeping at their goddamn airport. Two men in front of me almost got into a fight, after being called a racial slur. It was a surreal moment.
But enough about that. These photos are property of the NFL. What better way to bring forward another cheerleader post than today!
The San Francisco 49ers cheerleaders, known as the Gold Rush, are an iconic NFL performance squad. Established in their modern form in 1983, they feature 32 professional dancers who perform at every home game while balancing demanding careers and rich historical milestones.
Before becoming the Gold Rush, the squad performed at Kezar Stadium under the name The Niner Nuggets from 1946 to 1970.
Singing Squad: They were historically famed as the only singing cheerleading group in the NFL during their early years.
Global Travel: The Gold Rush has performed across the United States, Europe, and Japan, and participated in multiple international tours and Super Bowl appearances.
Members balance game-day performances with high-powered full-time careers, working as corporate attorneys, software engineers, semiconductor process engineers, PhD researchers, and medical professionals.
Saturday-Only Practices: To accommodate these professional commitments, the team holds intense, multi-hour practices primarily on Saturdays, supplemented by individual rehearsals at home or during work breaks.
Cleanroom to Costume: Some members go straight from wearing a glam game-day uniform on Sunday to specialized cleanroom "bunny suits" for semiconductor labs on Monday.
The squad learns and perfects more than 30 distinct dance routines across a single football season.
The Super Hot site wishes the 49er cheerleader squad the best year ever!
