The media giant Sports Illustrated has been in the fashion and model industry for decades. Having watched their ever-changing swimsuit lineup over the years, I became disinterested due to the same old, same old.

Movie Review: Obsession

Having watched this horror movie that apparently has massive positive reviews. But personally, having watched it, and actually disliked it - but let me explain first.

This is exactly like Tinder

If you're a person who loves horror movies with gore, psychopathic behaviors, graphic violence and gore - well, this is the movie for you. Have you ever thirsted to see a woman hit herself in the forehead with a statue until a crack appears? Not me, and quite honestly, I felt sick watching that. And this is from someone who watched all Human Centipede series. It was just so unbelievable.

With a murderous smile, she says "I love you!"

Whether it was a magic wish cracker or chunk of willow tree, it doesn't matter. The plot and pretense are so awful I wanted to punch the man who played the one who pulled that twig. Dear God, was he that desperate to find someone? Clearly she was looney after being stretched to believe she was infatuated with this person.

And I'm not writing out against the actor who played him - just the role. The acting was great. The violence, and gore? Maybe I'm just too fucking old to care now. What scares me is that people think this might be normal behavior - maybe, if you were locked up in an insane asylum. Protip: It's not bad, once you get used to the food.

"Have you heard the word of the WATCHTOWER?" she yells.

Actually what would make this movie even scarier if she was a religious lunatic bent on converting you to her faith. You know? That lone roaming Mormon hottie, snatching her chance to entrap a young, clueless dimwit into a sexless marriage. Isn't that what's life about? (And no offense to the Mormons out there).

So what did I think? Well, it had excessive gore and violence. The plotline wasn't clear enough for me. What exactly was she doing smashing her head in? For whom and what reason? Was he worth it? I have no fucking clue. Honestly, if you hate gore and violence, just skip this movie. 

"Am I pregnant? I better check with One Wish Willow!"

Compared to the backrooms, which is a far more simple movie than it appears - as long as you don't go searching for those hidden easter eggs. 

If you're that literal lunatic that enjoys punching yourself in the face, well then, maybe this movie would be for you. Honestly, I found the dialog ridiculous and unbelievable. There is no chance in HELL this woman would date this man - even WITH an actual wish. Instead, she'd probably pretend to be nice, then murder him in his sleep.

"I'll finally have that 3-way you wanted!" as she holds her best friends severed head.

Kind of sounds like my family.

But anyway, if you choose to watch this monstrosity I hope you are prepared.

Decades ago, I used to follow the New England Patriots loyally, and what changed was my living location. I moved from Halifax to Calgary in 2012, and adopted the Dallas Cowboys as my new #1 team.

Sadly, that legacy of winning hasn't erupted as much as I'd hoped it would. But still, when a pretty photo of 3 adorable cheerleaders appears on instagram - who am I to complain?

Event Safety: Think Ahead

 

Is it a backyard or a beach?

With the upcoming summer festivals and getaways happening, you'll want to ensure it's a safe and enjoyable time.

To be safe at a large event, plan ahead by locating all emergency exits and first aid stations, setting a specific meeting point for your group, and staying sober and aware of your surroundings. 

Avoid standing in crushing or stagnant crowds, keep your belongings secure, and trust your instincts—if you feel uncomfortable, leave immediately.

Before You Arrive - Review the venue: Check the event's website or app for venue maps, prohibited/allowed items, and clear-bag policies. Pre-plan exits: Upon entering, physically locate the closest exits. 

Do not rely solely on the main entry, as it will likely be the most congested in an emergency. Establish a meet-up spot: If separated from friends or family, choose a highly visible, distinct, and static landmark to meet up (e.g., a specific vendor or information booth).

Share information: Make sure children or those who need assistance have an ID bracelet or tag with your contact information on it. 

During the Event Maintain situational awareness: Stay observant. If you hear a commotion, run away from it rather than toward it to see what is happening.

Stay hydrated and protected: Depending on the weather, bring sufficient water, sunscreen, and ear protection to prevent heat exhaustion or hearing damage. Watch your drinks: Never leave beverages unattended.

 To prevent being drugged, always keep your drink in your hand and cover it. 

Avoid confrontation: Steer clear of intoxicated people and avoid arguments, especially in high-emotion environments like sporting events or concerts.

Navigating Crowds - Keep moving: Never stand completely still or sit down in the middle of a dense, moving crowd.

Maintain breathing room: Keep your arms bent near your chest to protect your ribs and maintain a little pocket of air around you.

Exit diagonally: If you need to leave a tight crowd, do not cut straight through. 

Move diagonally along with the flow of the crowd to get to the perimeter. If you fall: Try to get back up immediately.

 If you cannot, curl into a ball to cover your head and chest, protecting your airway until there is an opening to stand.

Avoid the Mosh Pit:

 If you want to avoid rough crowd behavior, steer clear of the center-front and mosh pits.

Assist Fallen Attendees: If you see someone fall, immediately help them up to prevent trampling.

Trust Your Instincts: Move away from aggressive individuals or spontaneously surging crowds. Alert event security immediately if you notice unsafe behavior. 

Watch your drinks, and never, ever accept a drink from a stranger. If you leave your drink to go to the bathroom, don't ever resume drinking it. Ever.

The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders (DCC) are in the middle of a massive summer, generating global buzz and navigating team shakeups.

This sparked a passionate fan campaign, with fellow cheerleaders rallying around her.Off-The-Field SuccessesBrand Deals & Travel: The squad celebrated the offseason with trips to Greece and an exciting new partnership with Rent the Runway.

Inspiring Off-Field Careers:

Thirst Trap Friday: Patriots

The adoration of random cheerleaders will continue until further notice. I do love browsing instagram, but to be honest, it feels more like work sometimes. 

When I'm especially tired after a busy day at work, I like to post about the extremely talented, pretty, and sweet cheerleaders. 

The New England Patriots Cheerleaders have been highly active, officially announcing their 2026 squad after wrapping up rigorous final auditions. 

They have begun squad practices, scheduled their summer Junior Patriots Cheerleading Clinics, and started preparing to hit the sidelines at Gillette Stadium for the new season.

Media and Community Events: Members of the team have been engaging in community outreach, balancing cheering with full-time careers outside of football, and attending high-profile charity events like the MayeDay Celebrity Softball Classic.

Junior Clinics: The organization is launching its Junior Patriots Preseason Performance Package and Clinics, keeping the cheer program highly visible among younger athletes in the New England area.
