Has Black Become The New Hot Color?
BY C STONE | THE SUPER HOT ||| FASHION Op-Ed
Wondering what the next hot color will be? I am too. Looking through the posts online with the most recent trends, I haven't seen black featured. I saw numerous black leather or leather-style clothes, but nothing that based the style off the Gothic black-style.
What makes the above look work? The red lips, the black, heavy make up near the eyes sharpen the beauty. I'm not a fan of the black necklace, but I do like the lace.
A pale woman with red eye highlights, white hair, and red lips. The look works and even enhances the pretty freckles on the models' face. These are artificially-generated images.
A dark look. A lacey dress with long, black hair. Black lipstick is very, very bold. I'm not a fan because it's too dark.
OK, here's the thing about the gothic look: Generally, few women wear it. Once you leave your teenage years, it leaves the fad stage and you become forced to wear conventional clothes. I can tell you from experience, there are zero men wearing gothic look in the business sector. And I will explain why.
But more to the point: When you wear this crazy look, people expect you to be a little bit 'out there'. More into art and fashion. More into hanging out with people in the music and arts.
And that's when hell breaks loose. Fairly soon, you are being hit on by men 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. And let me tell you, unless you're Taylor Swift, you don't want this kind of attention. Ever.
The Green Day Gothic look was never in business fashion. Today's women wear anything but that. The strangest looks you see in today's business environment is when a woman wears jeans and a t-shirt. I guess I am old and conventional. I never really believed in business casual until I tried wearing jeans. It works, but not for every day wear.
The closest I got to this look was in high school. I had at least once nice shirt, but it had lace on it. It was by YSL, and I didn't know shit about the fashion industry. But back in the 1980's, young men wore this look and were considered "preppies". Yeah, something like that.

And so, the Gothic look will remain on the shelf until the fad bubble appears again.
